Scouting Report: Rabun Co. Wildcats

CLAYTON - [watch] Things have been tough at Rabun County the last few years.  In 2009, the Wildcats went just 1-9 and they were held to 6 points or less in 6 of their 10 games.

But one of the reasons for the tough time was a n umber of injuries the team suffered, including to starting quarterback Tanner Wright.  Wright's injury forced freshman Clinton Scott into the starting role, but the good news for coach Danny Durham this season is that Wright is back and healthy.

Perhaps the biggest question for the Wildcats this season is how they will replace running back Daniel Campbell.  Campbell was one of the constants on both sides of the ball a year ago.

Durham says he feels like he has players that can fill those shoes, but no one player can do it alone.

One thing going for the Wildcats this season is a brand new sub-region. Being in the north in 8-AA means that Rabun will get to avoid having the likes of Jefferson, Hart County and North Oconee in the sub-region with them.  Durham says that the change should give his team more of a chance to compete.
