ATLANTA - The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Georgia lawmakers are vowing to take action to prevent Hustler Magazine from accessing crime scene photos from the case of Meredith Emerson, the UGA graduate abducted and killed in 2008.
David Ralston said he had told the Georgia Bureau of Investigation not to comply with the request saying it would cause too much harm to Emerson's family.
The body of the 24-year-old University of Georgia student was found in July 2008 in a north Georgia first. She had been beaten to death.
Gary Michael Hilton is serving a life sentence for Emerson's murder.
State Rep. Jill Chambers, an Atlanta Republican, will introduce legislation next week to exempt such crime scene photos from the
state's open records law. Ralston said the bill would be ``fast-tracked'' through the chamber.
